PORT REPUBLIC

Port Republic is best known for its stamp on Civil War history, which includes the Battle of Port Republic. A museum resides in this small town — which really isn't a town — that is filled with anecdotes from and about the past. Port Republic is located on Port Republic Road (of course) about 10 minutes east of Harrisonburg, and just north of Grottoes. It boasts a friendly atmosphere and charming appearance, nestled amongst the banks of the Shenandoah River.
Real estate in Port Republic ranges from stately mansions — sometimes very old mansions that have been renovated — to very quaint, charming farm houses.
