GROTTOES

The Town of Grottoes, located 20 minutes southeast of Harrisonburg, is full of rich history and dates back to about 1735 when the first settlers came to the area because of a grant of 60,000 acres on the Shenandoah River. Now with a population of about 3,000 and newer amenities — a Food Lion, locally-owned restaurants and shops, and a popular park complete with ball fields — Grottoes has a lot to offer. The main attraction in Grottoes, though, is Grand Caverns — America's oldest show cave.
